James Herbert is the Lead Resourcer and Candidate Manager for Marsden’s London in-house legal team. In this role, he oversees candidate engagement and talent pipelines across all live searches, maintaining complete visibility of active candidates and job requirements. This central oversight allows him to support consultants in managing workflows, anticipate recruitment needs, and ensure that every search is delivered efficiently and effectively.
James works across a broad spectrum of sectors including Financial Services, Renewable Energy, Technology, and Life Sciences, engaging with candidates at all levels from NQs to General Counsel across multiple jurisdictions, primarily in Europe. His experience provides a deep understanding of the legal talent market, enabling him to identify niche candidates, monitor market trends, and provide strategic insights that help the team deliver the best outcomes for clients.
Known for his proactive, relationship driven approach, James builds trust with both candidates and consultants, ensuring a seamless, professional experience throughout the recruitment process. Graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Free State, South Africa in 2019, he combines his legal and commercial background with a practical, people focused mindset.
Beyond managing day to day pipelines, James plays a strategic role in supporting the team’s planning, processes, and long term talent strategy, ensuring Marsden consistently connects exceptional legal professionals with opportunities where they can thrive.
