Why Marsden? Nick Paleocrassas

Nick Paleocrassas leads Marsden’s EMEA team and has been developing our European capabilities since joining us in 2019.

With more than 20 years of partner recruitment experience, Nick has advised some of the world’s leading law firms on recruitment initiatives in key financial centres across Europe, as well as in London.  He has also represented many high-profile partners who are considering a move, often with their teams.

The EMEA team is building on Marsden’s expertise working on business-critical projects across the globe.  Marsden has advised on office launches in Houston, Melbourne, Sydney, Dubai and Johannesburg; on mergers in Canada and Denmark; and on numerous group moves and key individual partner hires in the UK, across Europe, the Middle East and the USA.  Since joining us, Nick has led projects in France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Austria and Ukraine, helping to develop the firm’s track record and networks in these markets.  “The firm has backed the European project,” says Nick, “and there is scope to expand further, given how much opportunity there is across different markets”.

These international searches mean that he is travelling at least once a month. “Meeting new people by Zoom does work to some degree, but there is no substitute to seeing someone in person.  Being based in London, it is easy to travel anywhere in Europe and we have found there are many benefits to our “fly-in and fly-out” model. Partners appreciate you coming to see them and you can achieve a lot in a concentrated period of time.”

Before joining Marsden, Nick had a very successful career working at one of the best-known legal search boutiques and then at a major US-headquartered recruitment business, both in London.  He was introduced to us by a mutual client.  “I wanted to join an ambitious firm with a nimble structure, where I could make a meaningful contribution,” says Nick. “The past six years have been some of the most challenging and rewarding of my career.”

Outside of work, Nick is a dedicated cinephile – he goes to the cinema every week (sometimes with his two teenaged children) and continues to invest in his DVD collection – and a post-pandemic long distance runner – he has run 8 marathons since 2022.
