Jonathan Walmsley

Jonathan Walmsley is a Co-Founder of Marsden and leads the Australia & Asia  division. He is a specialist legal recruiter with over 20 years of experience, focusing on placing lawyers at all levels, both domestically and internationally. 

Jonathan has particular expertise in lateral partner recruitment, senior legal appointments, and managing strategic team moves  for top-tier international law firms, including Magic Circle, Global Elite, and US-headquartered firms.

He has played a pivotal role in multiple office launches, partner acquisitions, and team build-outs, earning a reputation as one of the most trusted advisors in the legal recruitment space. 

Jonathan’s approach is simple, yet powerful – he listens carefully, to what clients need, and to what lawyers want in their careers. This allows him to create connections that last, building long-term relationships with leading law firms globally.

Prior to entering recruitment, Jonathan practised as a commercial property lawyer at the legacy firms of Gowling WLG and CMS.
