Pete Van Name is a Senior Consultant in our US team based in our New York office. He specializes in placing lawyers at all levels into leading law firms across all major legal markets in the USA.
Prior to joining Marsden, Pete was the Manager of Legal Recruitment at Wachtell, Lipton in New York for over three years. He also previously held legal recruitment and talent management roles at Selendy Gay and Skadden in New York.
With over a decade of experience in legal recruiting and talent management, Pete is a seasoned recruiter known for excellent service and ingenuity in high stakes environments. In his prior roles at some of the top law firms in the USA, he led legal recruiting teams partnering closely with firm leadership to attract, evaluate, and onboard top legal talent.
He has spent years identifying and hiring entry level talent from some of the country’s top law schools, recruiting judicial clerks looking to return to private practice and managing talent pipelines for firms, overseeing their strategic lateral recruitment initiatives. Through his work in these roles, Pete has developed a deep network in the New York legal market where he has also been an active member of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) and the New York City Recruiting Association (NYCRA).
Pete currently lives on the Upper West Side of NYC with his wife and daughter. Outside of work he enjoys finding and trying the best new restaurants in the city, is an avid college basketball fan (Go Friars!) and an aspiring (amateur) sommelier.
